Luxor is about four hours from Hurghada by road, and a day trip lets you see the highlights of ancient Thebes without changing hotels.
The route
Early pickup, breakfast box on the bus, then the West Bank: Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch you cross the Nile to Karnak Temple.
Tips
- Wear comfortable shoes and a hat.
- Bring cash for optional tomb tickets and a felucca ride.
- Take your passport copy — there are police checkpoints.
